Athabasca District Agricultural Society Scholarship 

The Athabasca Agricultural Society is proud to support local students who are pursuing post-secondary education in agriculture and ag-related fields. This scholarship is designed to encourage youth who are passionate about agriculture, community involvement, and the future of rural life.

Scholarship amount: $1500

Applications close March 31 of each year.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating student of  Edwin Parr School

  • Be enrolled in, or accepted to, a post-secondary program related to agriculture (including but not limited to agriculture, agribusiness, environmental studies, veterinary sciences, ag mechanics, animal science, crop science, or rural development)

    • Proof of acceptance must be attached.
       

Application Requirements

As part of your application, please submit the following:

 Written Submission

  • Your agricultural background
    Share your experience in agriculture (farm involvement, 4-H, ag clubs, rodeo, volunteering, family operations, etc.).

  • Your future plans in agriculture
    Tell us what you hope to do in the agriculture industry and how your education will support those goals.

  • Your connection to Athabasca
    Do you plan to return to the Athabasca area after completing your education? Why or why not?

  • Your volunteer experience
    Describe your involvement in community service, school activities, agricultural organizations, or local events.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be reviewed based on:

  • Commitment to agriculture and rural communities

  • Community involvement and volunteerism

  • Clear educational and career goals

  • Connection to Athabasca and intention to contribute back to the region
